S rostoucím zájmem o korejskou kulturu roste i zájem o korejské "tradice". Ve své práci se zaměřím se na hudební žánr samul nori a různé názory na to, zda jde o tradiční hudební žánr, nebo zda jde o hudbu nově vynalezenou. Moje práce sleduje znovuobjevení samul nori pro-střednictvím vzestupu korejské skupiny, která vynalezla tuto hudbu, a analyzuje strategie, které skupina použila k přeměně hudby zastaralé v něco, co bylo současné i historicky auten-tické. Moje práce obsahuje základní popis samul nori, přehled historie vzniku samul nori a také různé názory na vynález samul nori.As the popularity of Korean culture grows, so does interest in learning new Korean "tradi-tions". My focus will be on the samul nori music genre and various perspectives on whether it is a traditional genre or whether it is newly invented music. My thesis traces the reinvention of samul nori through the rise of the Korean group that started it, analyzing the strategies the group employed to transform museum-worthy music into something that was both contemporary and historically authentic. My work comprises a basic description of samul nori, an overview of the history of how samul nori originated as well as an evaluation of different views on the invention of samul nori.
