Cílem mé bakalářské práce je představit kostnici v sedleckém klášteře. Práce nás seznamuje s historií, důvodem vzniku, funkcemi a architektonickým vývojem této specifické stavby od 2. poloviny 14. století do 2. poloviny 18. století. Práce se zabývá obecně vnímáním smrti v dané době, cisterciáckou tradicí a okrajově i historií sedleckého kláštera, kde se kostnice nachází. Práce následně analyzuje vývoj a vztahy mezi kostnicí v Sedlci a kostnicemi v Malíně a Kutné Hoře. Informace čerpá z dobových pramenů, odborné literatury a dobových vyobrazení.The aim of my bachelor thesis is to introduce the ossuary in the Sedlec monastery. The work introduces us the history, reason for the origin, the functions, and the architectural development of this specific building from the second half of the 14th century to the second half of the 18th century. The work deals with the general perception of death at the time, the Cistercian tradition, and marginally with the history of the Sedlec monastery, where the ossuary is located. The thesis then analyses the development and the relations between the ossuary in Sedlec with the ossuaries in Malín and Kutná Hora. The thesis draws information from the primary sources, scholarly literature, and historical works of art.
