Bakalářská práce se zabývá životem a dílem českého obrozenského spisovatele 19. století Janem Jindřichem Markem, literárními historiky známého pod pseudonymem Jan z Hvězdy. Práce se zaměřuje převážně na jeho nejznámější prozaické dílo Mastičkář s podtitulem Povídka z časů Jindřicha Korutanského. Práce dále poukazuje na zdroje inspirací Markova Mastičkáře ze Zbraslavské kroniky, z níž čerpal historická fakta a z Muzejního rukopisu, zlomku středověkého velikonočního dramatu, z něhož mohl čerpat téma mastičkáře. Nakonec práce poukazuje na proměnu pozice Jana Jindřicha Marka v kánonu české literatury.The goal of the Bachelor Thesis is analysis of life and artwork Jan Jindřich Marek, one of the most significant Czech writers in the 19th century. Jan Jindřich Marek was known by a pseudonym Jan z Hvězdy, that arose during his studies. Jan z Hvězdy was a prominent writer of both poems and prose, but his most important novel is Mastičkář, povídka z časů Jindřicha Korutanského written in 1845. The information to write the Mastičkář was used from the fragment of the Easter drama Muzejní rukopis (Muzejní zlomek), it was found in 1822. similar fragment Drkolenský rukopis (Drkolenský zlomek) was found in 1877 and Jan Jindřich Marek died in 1853, so he could not be inspirated by this fragment. Muzejní zlomek and Drkolenský zlomek are very similar. In both stories are main characters quack and his servants. Another inspiration was the Zbraslavská kronika written by Petr Žitavský in 14th century. The chronicle deals with historical events in the Czech Kingdom during the end of the Premyslid rule and the accession of Luxembourg to the Czech throne and that is the period in which the story of Mastičkář takes place. Jan Jindřich Marek took over many historical events from this chronicle, for example the name of the princess Eliška and the events concerning her poisoning and escape from Prague to Nymburk. Josef Kajetán Tyl, who has written an extensive article over the years 1846 and 1847, was responsible for the extensive critique of his story Mastičkář and maybe it was the reason why Jan Jindřich Marek stopped writing and he never wrote anything again. The Bachelor thesis also deals with the placement of the author in the canon of the Czech literature. In the 19th century Jan z Hvězdy was very popular, in the 20th century the author was still written about, but with the beginning of the 21st century his name almost disappeared from the canon of the Czech literature.
