Esta tesina pretende averiguar como la sociedad decimonónica percibe a la mujer. La percepción principal está basada en la novela Fortunata y Jacinta. En la parte primera se menciona el contexto socio-histórico, el movimiento literal, los valores de las mujeres y el papel de la mujer. La otra parte consiste en el análisis de los personajes principales, comparando la maternidad, el matrimonio, el amor y la honradez. El trabajo termina con la comparación de la literatura del Realismo francés y el ruso, de esa manera se ven las diferencias de las mujeres que parecían ser tan parecidas.This thesis aims to find how society perceive a concept of woman in the 19th century. The principal perception is based on the novella Fortunata y Jacinta. This thesis consists of several parts. The first one covers the historical and social context of the 19th century, and a theoretical description of the literary movement. Importantly, it is concerned with the notion of women's values and their role in a society. The second part analyses the main characters, comparing their relationships while focusing on topics such as maternity, marriage, love and honesty. Finally, the thesis provides a literary comparison of French and Russian realism and points out the differences found amongst the examined women, that seemed to have been so similar.
