Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku tzv. lidských zoo a propojení této terminologické praxe s vybranými rasovými teoriemi. Cílem práce je vysvětlit koncept tzv. lidských zoo, charakterizovat jeho podoby, přiblížit způsoby vnímání tělesných odlišností v celosvětovém kontextu a upřesnit dobové spojitosti s koloniálním uspořádáním světa. Důležitou roli v práci sehrává ne-jednoznačné vymezení pojmu rasa, jenž konkrétní teoretikové analyzují a obhajují jím nerovnoměrné rozložení moci i vykořisťování domorodého obyvatelstva.This master thesis is focused on the issue of so-called human zoos and the connection between human zoos and selected racial theories. The aim of this work is to explain the meaning of the concept of so-called human zoos, to characterize its forms, to describe various ways of perceiving differences in body shapes in a global context, and to specify the era in connection with the colonial world order. An important role in this thesis plays an unclear definition of the term race, which is analyzed by specific theorists and has been defended by them as a justification for an unequal distribution of power and, besides that, exploitation of the indigenous population.
