Rigorózní práce se zabývá analýzou politických rizik Nigérie. Země je řazena mezi tzv. hraniční trhy, pro něž je charakteristické, že investorům na jedné straně nabízí potenciál vyšších výnosů než zavedené trhy rozvinutých zemí, ale na druhé straně jsou spjaty s celou řadou rizik, která mohou zisky prudce snižovat. Mimo rizika finanční a tržní představují hrozbu zejména jevy politické a sociální povahy. Cílem práce tak bylo identifikovat politická rizika, která ohrožují či mohou ohrozit firmy působící na nigerijském trhu. Za tímto účelem je práce rozdělena na teoretickou a analytickou část. V teoretické části je nejdříve představena analýza politických rizik v historické perspektivě, dále koncepce politických rizik a nejčastější přístupy k jejich analýze. V závěru teoretické části se zabývám již konkrétní metodikou analýzy politických rizik, která je užita v této práci. Jedná se o modifikovanou metodologii The International Country Risk Guide (ICRG) konzultační firmy Political Risk Service Group, která vymezuje oblasti potenciálního politického rizika ovlivňující podnikatelské prostředí státu. Páteří práce je pak analytická část. V souladu s metodikou ICRG jsou výše zmíněné kategorie politického rizika samostatně analyzovány za čelem identifikace a popisu konkrétních rizik. Zjištění v jednotlivých oblastech jsou na závěr sumarizována a interpretována. Výstupem práce by měl být ucelený rizikový profil země, který shrnuje identifikovaná politická rizika v kontextu teorie a empirických dat. Na základě provedené analýzy lze konstatovat, že rizika byla identifikována ve všech oblastech politického rizika, přičemž ta nejzávažnější byla zjištěna v rámci kategorie Socioekonomické podmínky, Etnické a náboženské napětí, Vnitřní konflikty, Pořádek a Korupce. Práce je zpracována formou případové studie, přičemž její kvalitativní charakter je podepřen příslušnými statistikami, indexy a ratingy. Výzkumnou technikou je analýza dat a dokumentů.The thesis deals with the analysis of Nigeria's political risks. The country is classified as a frontier market, which is characterized by offering investors the potential for higher returns than the established markets of developed countries, but on the other hand, are associated with a number of risks that can sharply reduce profits. In addition to financial and market risks, political and social phenomena pose a particular threat. The aim of the thesis was to identify political risks that threaten or may threaten companies operating in the Nigerian market. For this purpose, the thesis is divided into a theoretical and an analytical part. The theoretical part first introduces the analysis of political risks from a historical perspective, then the concept of political risks and the most common approaches to their analysis. At the end of the theoretical part, I deal with a specific methodology of political risk analysis, which is used in the thesis. This is a modified version of The International Country Risk Guide Methodology (ICRG) of the consulting company Political Risk Service Group, which defines areas of potential political risk affecting the business environment of the country. The backbone of the thesis is the analytical part. In accordance with the ICRG methodology, the above-mentioned categories of political risk are analyzed separately in order to identify and describe specific risks. Findings in individual areas are finally summarized and interpreted. The output of the work should be a comprehensive risk profile of the country, which summarizes the identified political risks in the context of theory and empirical data. Based on the analysis, it can be stated that risks were identified in all areas of political risk, while the most serious were found under the categories of Socioeconomic conditions, Ethnic and religious tensions, Internal conflict, Order and Corruption. The thesis is processed in the form of a case study, while its qualitative character is supported by relevant statistics, indices and ratings. Research technique is the analysis of data and documents.
