Práce se zabývá analýzou a porovnáním dvou středověkých cestopisů od Brandana a Jeana de Mandevilla, stěžejní jsou biblické symboly a obrazy. Práce se zaměřuje na líčení symbolů, které tito středověcí cestovatelé zaznamenávali na svých cestách a které vycházejí z křesťanských základů. Předkládaná práce klade důraz na zobrazení nadpozemského světa, a to konkrétně na nebe, peklo a očistec. Zároveň je součástí práce kapitola zabývající se nejen středověkými poutníky a náboženskými představami obecně, ale také představami onoho světa v dobách středověku.The thesis deals with the analysis and comparison of two medieval travelogues by Brandan and Jean de Mandeville, focusing on biblical symbols and biblical images. The main focus of the thesis is the representation of the various symbols that these medieval travelers perceived on their travels and which are based on the Christian religion. The thesis deals with the transcendent world and specifically draws attention to heaven, hell and purgatory. The thesis also contains a general chapter about medieval pilgrims and also about ideas about religion as well as on the ideas of the other world in the Middle Ages.
