Evropská unie (EU) je v posledních deseti letech konfrontována s demokratickým úpadkem v několika členských státech. Demokratický úpadek v členském státě způsobuje nedodržování základních hodnot, na kterých je postavena Evropská unie a její fungování. Jedná se o hodnoty demokracie, lidských práv a především právního státu. Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá problematiku základních hodnot EU a vymáhání principů právního státu. V bakalářské práci autor charakterizuje jednotlivé nástroje, které jsou používány k vynucování principů právního státu, a také analyzuje jejich účinnost. Stěžejním cílem analytické části je zjistit, které faktory mají vliv na způsob odezvy EU vůči porušování principů právního státu, a znázornit určitý vzorec chování Evropské unie v souvislosti s porušováním principů právního státu v případech Maďarska, Rumunska a Polska.Over the past decade, the European Union (EU) has been confronted with democratic backsliding in several member states. Democratic backsliding in a member state causes non-compliance of the fundamental values on which the European Union and its functioning are built. Specifically the values of democracy, human rights and particularly the rule of law. This bachelor thesis analyses the issue of the fundamental values of the EU and the enforcement of the rule of law principles. In this bachelor thesis, the author characterises the individual tools that are used for the enforcement of the principles of the rule of law, as well as, analyses their effectiveness. The main aim of the analytical part of this thesis is to discover which factors influence the way the EU responds to violations of the rule of law principles, as well as, to represent a certain pattern of the European Union's behaviour with regards to violations of the rule of law principles in Hungary, Romania and Poland.
