Cílem této práce je analýza vybraných mravoučných literárních děl z českého raného novověku a následné vyhledání a popsání, jak byli v těchto dílech zobrazováni staří lidé a stáří jako koncept. Teoretickou část tvoří kapitoly, které přibližují literárněhistorický kontext zpracovávaných textů. Stručně zde popisujeme období renesance a jejího průběhu v Itálii a na českém území, dále jsme zde zařadili kapitoly o žánru morálně naučné literatury a o soudobém postavení starých lidí v rámci rodin a společnosti. V analytické části jsme postupně ve zvolených textech vyhledali zmínky o stáří a následně tuto tematiku zpracovali a podle zdrojových děl rozdělili do samostatných kapitol. Závěr práce obsahuje shrnutí získaných informací a porovnání obrazů stáří v jednotlivých zpracovaných dílech.Resumé (English): In this thesis, we examine how elderly people and old age itself are described in moralities written throughout the early modern age. The first part of our thesis is theoretical. Here, the reader can find chapters describing main traits of the Renaissance as a time period alongside with the humanism as a cultural phenomenon both in Italy where they originated in, and in the Czech cultural environment. Additionally, we included chapters about the life of the elderly in the early modern age and about the literary genre of moralities. By searching through the individual source texts, we were able to gather examples of the representation of elderly people within the literary genre which were then analysed and thoroughly described. The subject of our thesis includes every piece of representation of the elderly that is present in the chosen texts. We look for and subsequently work with depictions of elderly in stories, their advice to young people about the righteous and God-honouring ways of treating their elders, advice for elders (such as how to face death), what is the right thing to focus the rest of their life on and opposed to that, what is inappropriate or sinful for an elder to do. Often, we also work with descriptions of poverty, illnesses and other causes of suffering that were usual for the elderly of the early modern age. Every author and every source text have a chapter dedicated to them. This decision was made to enable the reader to compare individual outlooks of authors and see the similarities in the representation in their books. In the thesis, we created the comparison, located in the final chapter, where we describe the differences and all the most frequently occurring similarities of the representation between individual texts.
