Tato práce pojednává o českém skladateli a pedagogovi Františku Brožovi. Jelikož o této významné kulturní osobnosti města Hranice nebylo napsáno žádné ucelené dílo, je cílem práce tuto mezeru vyplnit. Text je rozdělen na tři hlavní části, které se podrobněji zabývají jeho životem, působením v Hranicích na Moravě a jeho kompozičním stylem. Ten je demonstrován analýzou jeho stěžejního díla - Symfonie. Jádrem celé práce je její druhá část, ve které je čtenáři přiblížena hudební kultura v Hranicích a Brožův vliv na ni. Tato kapitola nabízí jak nástin historie občanské besedy Jurik, tak objasnění okolností, za kterých byla v tomto městě založena hudební škola, jíž se František Brož stal prvním ředitelem.This text treats František Brož, who was a composer and an educationist active in the city of Hranice. Since there has not been written any comprehensive work about this outstanding cultural personality, we aim at fulfilling this gap. The text is articulated into three main parts. In depth, they treat his life and his activity at Hranice, a city in the region of Morava, which is part of the Czech Republic nowadays, while in his youth it was part of the Austria-Hungary monarchy and then of the Czechoslovakia. His compositional style is exemplified by the analysis of his main composition - The Symphony, in the third part. The second part is essential for the entire text. Its reader is acquainted with the music culture in Hranice and how Brož influenced it. This chapter offers both a historical outline of the citizen club Jurik, and explains the circumstances of the establishment of the music school, the director of which Brož became.
