Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je analýza tradičních a netradičních podob kartodiagramů používaných v moderní kartografii a zjištění možností jejich konstrukce. Kartodiagramy bývají hojně užívány pro prezentování statistických údajů a lze je zařadit do skupiny tzv. statistických map. Podle jejich vztažného bodu jsou kartodiagramy děleny na bodové, liniové a kartodiagramy plošné. Problematika tvorby kartodiagramů bývá často úskalím kartografů a především studentů. V případě, kdy dojde k nekorektní aplikaci kartodiagramu do mapového pole, může docházet ke špatné interpretaci vizualizovaných dat uživatelem. Diplomová práce je zaměřena na praktickou realizaci kartodiagramů. Tvorba netradičních forem kartodiagramů je přímo navázána na tvorbu jednoduchých diagramů, proto je podrobně popsána tvorba kartodiagramů od jejich jednoduchých provedení až po složité, které je možné považovat za netradiční. V netradičním provedení kartodiagramů je metoda často kombinována s infografikou v nadstavbových kompozičních prvcích. Hlavním výsledkem diplomové práce je zhodnocení možností tvorby tradičních i netradičních forem kartodiagramů a manuál, který krok za krokem popisuje tvorbu základních typů kartodiagramů z navrženého rozdělení. Výsledky práce jsou dostupné prostřednictvím webových stránek.The main aim of the diploma thesis is the analysis of traditional and non-traditional forms of graduated symbols used in modern cartography and the survey concerning the ways to design them. Graduated symbols are commonly used for presenting statistical data, and they belong to the group of the so-called statistical maps. According to their reference points, graduated symbols are divided into the point, line and area graduated symbols. The creation of graduated symbols is often a problem for cartographers and mainly for students. In the case the graduated symbol is incorrectly applied to the map field, the interpretation of the visualized data by the user can be incorrect. The diploma thesis focuses on the practical creation of graduated symbols. The nature of non-traditional forms of graduated symbols is directly linked to the creation of simple diagrams; therefore, the creation of graduated symbols is described in detail, including their simple forms as well as difficult ones which can be seen as non-traditional. In the non-traditional forms of graduated symbols, the method is often combined with infographics in additional composition elements. The main result of the diploma thesis is the evaluation of the ways of creation of traditional and non-traditional graduated symbols and a manual which describes the creation of the basic types of graduated symbols from the suggested classification step by step.
