Tato přehledová bakalářská práce se zabývá léčbou karcinomu prostaty pomocí brachyterapie. Předkládá publikované poznatky o možnostech využití brachyterapie v léčbě karcinomu prostaty. První část shrnuje poznatky o karcinomu prostaty, kde je zahrnuta charakteristika daného onemocnění, TNM klasifikace, symptomy onemocnění, rizikové faktory a prevence. Další část se zabývá možnou diagnostikou karcinomu prostaty, kde je popsán prostatický specifický antigen, digitální vyšetření per rektum, biopsie prostaty a PET/CT vyšetření. Poslední část pojednává o brachyterapii u karcinomu prostaty. Je zde zahrnuta historie, zdroje záření a způsoby využití brachyterapie u karcinomu prostaty.The Bachelor´s thesis designed as a survey deals with the prostate cancer therapy using brachytherapy. The thesis presents findings of possible utilizations of brachytherapy in prostate cancer management. The first part summarizes knowledge about prostate cancer, including its characteristic features, TNM classification, symptoms, risk factors and prevention. The following part deals with prostate cancer diagnostics, describes prostate-specific antigen, digital rectal examination (DRE), biopsy of prostate tissue, and PET/CET examination. The final part focuses on brachytherapy as the possible prostate cancer therapy. Historical background, radiation sources and various uses of brachytherapy in prostate cancer management are discussed.
