Cílem této práce je prozkoumat tři české překlady knihy Komu zvoní hrana od Ernesta Hemingwaye a porovnat je s jejich anglickým originálem. Zvláštní důraz přitom bude kladen na rozdíly v překladu, které mohly být způsobeny tlakem tehdejší komunistické vlády. Předmětem první kapitoly je čtenáři přiblížit nástup cenzury v Československu. Zabývá se také orgány vykonávajícími cenzuru a také praktikami, které používaly. Druhá kapitola pak mluví o literární cenzuře ve světě, s důrazem zvláště pak na země s komunistickou vládou. Zmiňuje se i o autocenzuře. Čtenář se v této kapitole také dočte o životě Ernesta Hemigwaye a dozví se, proč byl orgány cenzury považován za nebezpečného autora. V praktické části jsou představeny jednotlivé české překlady i jejich autoři. Dále se pak tato část zabývá výčtem témat, který byl vytvořen na základě kritického zhodnocení literatury. Tento výčet odhaluje témata, která komunistická cenzura považovala za nevhodné (politické názory, náboženství, vulgarismy a sexuální život). Práce se zaměřuje na tato témata objevující se v původní verzi a porovnává je s výše zmíněnými překlady. Závěr práce pak shrnuje zjištěné poznatky.The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to examine three Czech translations of the book For Whom the Bells Tolls by Ernest Hemingway and to compare them with the original. Special attention is given to the differences in the translation that may have been caused by the pressure of the then communistic government. The first chapter describes the rise of censorship in the Czechoslovakia. It deals with the censorship bodies and also with their practices. The second chapter explores literary censorship in the world with special attention paid to countries under the communist regime. The authorship is also mentioned in this chapter. Lastly, the life of Ernest Hemingway is briefly introduced so the reader can understand why the communist regime considered this author a dangerous one. The analytical part introduces three Czech translations and their authors. This part comprises a list of topics which was created based on a critical evaluation of the literature. The topics considered as unsuitable by the communist regime are revealed in the list (political opinion, religion, vulgarism, sex life). The thesis examines these topics occurring in the original and compares them with the mentioned Czech translations. Using the findings, the conclusion summarizes the topic considered.
