Ce mémoire est consacré a l'analyse de l'oeuvre romanesque d'Anna Gavalda, l'auteur français contemporain. Plus concretement, ce travail se concentre sur la recherche du bonheur des personnages principaux dans ses cinq romans que sont : L'Échappée Belle, Je l'aimais, Ensemble, c'est tout, La Consolante et Billie. Étant donné que le motif du bonheur est absolument essentiel pour l'analyse, le premier chapitre s'occupe de la notion du bonheur en général et de la littérature consacrée a ce sujet. L'objectif majeur de ce mémoire est de présenter les piliers fondamentaux qui contribuent a une vie heureuse dans l'univers romanesque gavaldien en observant les motivations et difficultés des protagonistes pendant leur recherche du bonheur. Le mémoire traite également de la vie de l'écrivain et de son oeuvre dans un large contexte de littérature française, en considération de l'évolution du genre romanesque depuis les années cinquante jusqu'a nos jours.This thesis deals with the introduction and analysis of fiction written by the contemporary French author, Anna Gavalda. In particular, the analysis focuses on major characters and their pursuit of happiness in her five novels: Breaking Away, Someone I Loved, Hunting and Gathering, Consolation and Billie. As the motif of happiness is crucial for this work, the first chapter deals with the notion of happiness in general and the literature concerned with this subject. The major aim of this thesis is to present the essential values which constitute one's happiness in Gavalda's literary universe by observing the major motivations and obstacles in the pursuit of a happy life of individual characters. In addition to the analytical part, the thesis also introduces the author and an overview of her writings in a larger context, with respect to the evolution of the novel on the French literary scene since 1950's until today.
