Tato práce se zabývá zlem ve vybraných dílech Williama Goldinga, které je ústředním motivem jeho románů. Dále analyzuje sebeklam, který hraje důležitou roli ve vztahu ke Goldingově pojetí zla a ustanovuje spojitost mezi nimi. Pozornost je věnována především románům Pán Much, Dědicové, Ztroskotání Christophera Martina, a Věž, ve kterých je zřetelné Goldingovo přesvědčení, že za nedostatky společnosti můžou chyby jednotlivců a povaha lidstva.This thesis is concerned with evil in selected works of William Goldin, a recurring and central theme of his novels. Furthermore, self-delusion, which is inherently connected with Golding's notion of evil, is analysed and the connection between these two elements established. The research primarily focuses on the novels Lord of the Flies, The Inheritors, Pincher Martin, and The Spire which showcase Golding's prevailing idea that the faults of society can be traced to the faults of an individual and the nature of human race.
