El presente trabajo se dedica al estudio de UFS inglesas culturales y su traducción al espanol en el subtitulado. La primera mitad del marco teórico trata las características generales del texto audiovisual y su traducción, mientras que la segunda mitad centra su atención en la fraseología y la cultura. En el inicio de esta sección, se presenta una introducción breve a la fraseología y las UFS; los siguientes apartados se ocupan del transvase de la cultura y las referencias culturales y, por último, se exponen estrategias de la traducción de UFS. La parte práctica se corresponde con el análisis de los resultados de la búsqueda de 103 UFS inglesas culturales traducidas al espanol en la colección de subtítulos del corpus paralelo InterCorp clasificados según dichas estrategias traductológicas. Finalmente, se pretende proporcionar un resumen de los hallazgos más importantes y llegar a algunas conclusiones generales.This thesis deals with culture-bound English idioms and the translation strategies employed in their transfer into Spanish in subtitles. The first half of the theoretical part addresses the main issues related to audiovisual texts and their translation, whereas the second half shifts its attention to phraseology and culture. The beginning of this section occupies itself with a brief introduction of phraseology and phraseological units, while the rest of it is devoted to rendering of culture and culture-bound references, as well as, idiom translation strategies. The practical part brings into focus the outcome of the search in the parallel corpus InterCorp where Spanish renderings of 103 English phraseological units in subtitles are studied and, subsequently, classified according to the aforementioned translation strategies. Finally, the work attempts to provide a summary of its major findings and reach some more general conclusions.
