Pojem Schengen se pro běžného občana rovná synonymu zrušení vnitřních hranic, ovšem tento pojem zahrnuje v sobě velké množství jiných aspektů. Práce pojednává o právních a politických aspektech vstupu ČR k Schengenské dohodě. Tato dohoda měla velký dopad pro Českou republiku v tom ohledu, že se muselo změnit nebo přijat velké množství zákonů, aby se plně implementoval schengenský acquis do českého právního řádu. Prvním cílem práce bylo popsat samotné dohody, aby se čtenář lépe orientoval do dané problematiky. Pro úplnost byly popsány i prvky, které k samotné dohodě patří jako například společná vízová politika, justiční a policejní spolupráce, Schengenský hraniční kodex a především Schengenský informační systém. Druhým cílem, který jsem si pro práci stanovil, bylo popsat proces vstupu ČR k Schengenské dohodě. Třetím a podstatným cílem pro tuto práci bylo zhodnotit pozitiva a negativa vstupu ČR k Schengenské dohodě. Do této části jsem nezasahoval svými subjektivními názory, ale objektivně jsem zhodnotil názory z obou části spektra. Nejpodstatnější a také nejpřínosnější části práce je výzkum, který zhodnocuje vstup ČR k Schengenu dle názoru samotných občanů ČR.The notion of Schengen is equal to the average citizen a synonym for the abolition of internal borders, however, this term implies a large number of other aspects. Thesis discusses the legal and political aspects of the Czech Republic's accession to the Schengen Agreement. This agreement had a great impact for the Czech Republic in that regard, that have changed or adopted a number of laws to fully implement the Schengen acquis into Czech law. The first objective was to describe the agreement itself, in order to better orient the reader to the issue. For the sake of completeness, we have been described as those which belong to the agreement itself, such as a common visa policy, judicial and police cooperation, the Schengen Borders Code and especially the Schengen Information System. The second goal that I set to work, to describe the process of CR accession to the Schengen Agreement. The third and essential objective of this work was to evaluate the pros and cons Czech Republic's entry to the Schengen Agreement. In this section I interfered with their subjective opinions, but I objectively evaluate the opinions of both parts of the spectrum. The most important and most valuable part is the research that assesses the Czech Republic's accession to Schengen in the opinion of the citizens of the Czech Republic.
