Tato diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem tzv. arabského jara v Libyi a Sýrii v kontextu konceptu Responsibility to Protect. Práce si klade za cíl srovnat průběh konfliktů v těchto zemích, včetně zapojení mezinárodního společenství. Základní tezí práce je, že intervence mezinárodního společenství v Libyi byla provedena v souladu s kritérii konceptu R2P. Práce zároveň předpokládá, že v případě syrského konfliktu nebyla naplněna všechna kritéria konceptu R2P, tudíž nedošlo k realizaci intervence za účelem ochrany civilního obyvatelstva.This thesis deals with the Arab Spring phenomenon in Libya and Syria in the context of the Responsibility to protect. The main objective of this thesis is to describe and compare development of the Arab spring in Libya and Syria, including the involvement of the international community.The basic presumption is that the military intervention in Libya was conducted in accordance with the criteria of the concept of R2P. Whereas in Syria, not all of the standards of the Responsibility to protect were accomplished and therefore there was no intervention in order to protect civilians.
