Práce se zabývá tématem komunitního tlumočení ve vztahu k pojmům kultura a kulturní mediátor. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část představuje a vysvětluje následující pojmy: komunitní tlumočení, komunitní tlumočník, kultura a kulturní mediátor. Dále popisuje etický kodex komunitního tlumočení a českou organizaci META, která se zabývá komunitním tlumočením. Praktická část analyzuje rozhovory s 18-ti komunitními tlumočníky, 10 z nich pracuje v ČR a 8 v Británii. Cílem praktické části je zjistit, jestli se komunitní tlumočníci setkávají se situacemi, kdy si strany navzájem nerozumí kvůli kulturním odlišnostem, a jak takové situace řeší. Dále zkoumá, jaké je vzdělání tlumočníků, a jestli se považují za kulturní mediátory. Ve všech těchto oblastech jsou srovnávány rozdíly mezi Českou republikou a Velkou Británií.The thesis deals with the topic of community interpreting related to issues of culture and cultural mediator. It is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part introduces and explains the following terms: community interpreting, community interpreter, culture and cultural mediator. Furthermore, it describes the code of ethics of community interpreting and the Czech community interpreting organization META. The practical part analyzes interviews with 18 community interpreters, 10 of them working in the Czech Republic and 8 of them working in Britain. The aim of the practical part is to find out whether community interpreters encounter situations of misunderstanding because of cultural differences and how they deal with such situations. Furthermore, it investigates what is the interpreter's education and if they consider themselves to be cultural mediators. Differences between the Czech Republic and Britain concerning all these areas are compared.
