Diplomová práce je zaměřena na zhodnocení příčin a důsledků devastace tropických deštných lesů na Sumatře v Indonésii. Pro lepší porozumění je nejprve přiblížen celý ekosystém tropických deštných lesů, je popsána jeho celosvětová geografická lokalizace, jeho struktura a jeho role na naší planetě. V další části jsou již přiblíženy přímo deštné lesy Sumatry, kde je charakterizována nejen jejich fauna a flóra, chráněné oblasti a samotný ostrov, ale jsou zde i porovnány rozlohy lesního pokryvu v rámci uplynulých 30 let. Posléze jsou komplexně specifikovány vybrané příčiny devastace antropologického vlivu a následně jejich důsledky. V navazující kapitole je pak provedena analýza, jakým způsobem je devastace TDL v posledních několika letech eliminována. Jsou zde rozebrány jak vládní nástroje, tak nástroje nevládních neziskových organizací i mezinárodní sféry. Závěrečná kapitola poté zobrazuje určitá možná řešení do budoucna, díky nimž by se katastrofální situaci dalo zabránit.The thesis is focused on evaluation of causes and consequences of the devastation of tropical rainforests on Sumatra in Indonesia. First of all, the entire ecosystem of the tropical rainforests, the worldwide geographic localization of the tropical rainforests, its structure and its role on our planet, are described to understand the topic adequately. Afterwards, the rainforests of Sumatra are expounded directly. Not only their flora and fauna, protected areas and the island itself are characterized, but there are also compared the expanses of the forest cover within the past 30 years. Eventually, the selected causes of anthropological influence devastation and their consequences are comprehensively specified. Then, in the following chapter is analyzed how the devastation of tropical rainforests in recent years is eliminated. There are taken into consideration both government instruments, and tools of nongovernmental organizations and international sphere as well. The final chapter shows several possible solutions for the future, which might enable so that the dire situation could have been avoided.
