Předložená disetační práce obsahuje analýzu několika křesťanských zpráv staročeského a středněčeského písemnictví o znesvěcení eucharistie, tzv. profanační legendy, které zobrazují židovství a modelují postavu hermeneutických či fiktivních Židů, jejichž prototyp persvazivně ovlivňoval myšlení o ?reálné? židovské komunitě. Disertace je rozdělena do pěti kapitol představujích různé přístupy k dané problematice a zohledňujících variabilní modely analyzovaných profanačních legend. Zatímco první kapitola se věnuje schématu profanačního narativu a spojuje jej rovněž s obviněním o rituálním využívání krve, druhá již obrací svou pozornost na funkci legend o hanobení eucharistie v rámci protižidovských násilností ve středověku na příkladu událostí v Pulkau roku 1338. Třetí kapitola analyzující básnické skladby vztahující se k pražskému pogromu roku 1389 sleduje téma prizmatem konstrukce paměti, její selektivnosti a potenciálu spoluutvářet identitu dané společnosti. Předposlední část vznikla metodologickou kombinací předchozích dvou kapitol a zkoumá kontroverzní pramen ?neliterární? povahy vztahující se k Olomouci roku 1425, který nese všechny atributy profanační legendy. Závěrečná část mírně překračuje hranice středověké literatury a všímá si raně novověkých verzí profanačního narativu a jeho vizualizací.The Host desecration narrative represents one of the medieval accusations against Jews that served as a legitimization of massacres and expulsions of the group throughout the Middle Ages in Europe. This libel was textualized in many topoi, common for all of the variations of the legend about desecrating the Eucharist. In these texts Jews steal or buy the consecrated Host and then torture it by stabbing with a knife, throwing into a boiling water, burning in a fiery owen etc. The bleeding Host usually attracts attention of Christians and becomes an object of piety. These irrational cases of alleged sacrilege caused wave of psychopathological violence which was formulated in religious terms and which was a mixture of religious and economic aspects. According to Gavin I. Langmuir, this kind of violence was motivated and explicitly justified by the irrational fantasies of paranoid people whose internal frontiers of faith were threatened by doubts they did not admit. The Host desecration legends appear to have reinforced the dogma that Christ was really present in the sacramental bread, strengthened the identity of Catholic Christians and serrulated the major society against alleged enemies. This dissertation examines Czech literary representations of this narrative in five chapters. From the point of view of literary history every chapter is simultaneously a case study focusing on specific group of texts tied with the cases of the Host desecration accusation in the Czech lands.
