Tato diplomová práce se zabývá dětskou literaturou a jejím překladem. Teoretická část je věnována představení dětské literatury jako žánru a zabývá se rovněž specifiky jejího překladu. Důraz je kladen zejména na odlišnosti překladu literatury pro děti a dospělého čtenáře a jeho úskalí. Druhou část práce představuje překlad vybraných kapitol z dětské knihy Eudory Weltyové The Shoe Bird. Překládané úseky byly voleny tak, aby ilustrovaly translatologické problémy, které jsou následně rozebírány v analýze. Ta tvoří třetí část práce a je zaměřena na jevy, které se v dětské literatuře poměrně hojně vyskytují, a jedná se např. o slovní hříčky, říkanky, využití deminutiv apod.The subject of the present thesis is children's literature and its translation. The theoretical part of the thesis comprises an introduction to the genre of children's literature and deals with the specifics of its translation. The attention is primarily paid to differences between the translation of literature for children and adult readers, and problems which the translator can encounter during the translation process. The second part of the thesis is a translation of selected chapters from children's book The Shoe Bird by Eudora Welty. The chapters were selected with respect to translation issues which are analyzed in the final part of the thesis. The analysis is aimed at issues which occur in children's literature quite often, i.e., plays on words, rhymes, diminutives etc.
