Tato diplomová práce se zabývá výskytem holých infinitivů v současné angličtině, a to především jako komplementů sloves s důrazem na srovnání s infinitivy s to. Cílem práce je zjistit, v jakých jazykových kontextech se holé infinitivy vyskytují a co případně ovlivňuje výběr mezi holými infinitivy a infinitivy s to. Práce se opírá jak o teoretickou literaturu zabývající se anglickou gramatikou, tak o jazykové korpusy. Teoretické poznatky o holých infinitivech jsou získány z gramatik jako je Huddleston and Pullum a jsou aplikovány při hledání v Britském národním korpusu (BNC).This diploma thesis deals with the distribution of bare infinitives in English. In particular, it concentrates on bare infinitives as complements of verbs with special attention to the difference between bare infinitives and to-infinitives. The goal of the thesis is to find out in what linguistic contexts bare infinitives occur and which possible variables influence the choice between bare and to-infinitives. The thesis uses information from theoretical literature dealing with English grammar and practical information from language corpora. Theoretical information is gained from grammars such as Huddleston and Pullum and is used when searching in the corpora, particularly the British National Corpus (BNC).
