Tato diplomová práce je případovou studií, jež analyzuje evropskou politiku německé kancléřky Angely Merkel. Její teoreticko-konceptuální základna vychází z typologie teorie rolí Kalevi J. Holstiho, teorie leadershipu Josepha S. Nye a Matthewa Fairholma a konceptu zkrocené velmoci Petera J. Katzensteina. Práce zkoumá vývoj a charakter pozice Německa k evropské integraci od 50. let minulého století do současnosti. Cílem je identifikace, analýza a vysvětlení elementů kontinuity a změny německé politiky na evropské úrovni. Hlavní pozornost je soustředěna na politiku současné kancléřky Angely Merkel, která je analyzována a vykládána za použití kontextuálního historicko-teoretického rámce.This Diploma Thesis is a case study analysing the European policy of the Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel. As a theoretical-conceptual base several concepts are used - the typology of the role theory developed by Kalevi J. Holsti, leadership concept of Joseph S. Nye and Matthew Fairholm and also the concept of tamed power by Peter J. Katzenstein. The Thesis examines the development and character of the German position towards European integration processes within the time framework since 1950s till the contemporary developments. The aim is to identify, analyse and explain the elements of continuity and change in the German political actions on the european level. The major attention is given to the evaluation and explanation of the European policy of the current Chancellor Angela Merkel which is explained and analyzed under provided contextual historical-theoretical framework.
