Tato diplomová práce se snaží o komplexní charakteristiku geopolitických aspektů mezi Ruskou federací a Gruzií. Samotný text se věnuje jak pojmu geopolitika a následně geopolitickým přístupům od 19. století, tak i zevrubnému historickému vývoji kavkazského regionu, s jeho jednotlivými geografickými a geopolitickými specifiky. Neopomíjí ani bližší prozkoumání vzájemných zahraničně-politických vztahů a ekonomických ukazatelů jak Gruzie, jejích sporných územích Abcházie a Jižní Osetie, stejně tak i Ruské federace. Strategická poloha Gruzie a nerostná bohatství hrají klíčovou roli v mocenském boji o prvenství v jihokavkazském regionu. Velké změny, jak v zahraniční politice, tak ekonomice, nastaly na Kavkaze v roce 2008, kdy v Gruzii propukla válka s Ruskou federací o autonomní republiku Jižní Osetie. Oba de facto státy, jak autonomní republika Abcházie, tak autonomní republika Jižní Osetie, jsou nadále i navzdory uznání Ruskou federací s několika jejími sympatizanty, de iure součástí gruzínského suverénního státu.The aim of this Diploma thesis is complexly characterized geopolitical aspects between the Russian Federation and Georgia. The following text links the concept of geopolitics and subsequently geopolitical approaches from the 19th century, as well as a the comprehensive historical development of the Caucasus region, with its particular geographical and geopolitical specifics. Does not neglect a more detailed examination of mutual foreign political relations and economic indicators of Georgia, its disputed territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as the Russian Federation. The strategic location of Georgia and mineral resources play a key role in the power struggle for supremacy in the region of South Caucasus. Massive changes, both in foreign policy and economy occurred in the Caucasus during 2008 when war broke out in Georgia with the Russian Federation on the autonomous republic of South Ossetia. Both de facto states, autonomous republic of Abkhazia and autonomous republic of South Ossetia continue despite the recognition of the Russian Federation with several of her supporters, remain de iure part of Georgia's sovereign State.
