Práce se zabývá vztahem kulturní politiky Československa a hudební skupiny Greenhorns, která ve druhé polovině šedesátých let a v první polovině sedmdesátých let v této zemi sovětského bloku významně přispěla k popularizaci hudebního žánru amerického původu, country and western. Pozornost je věnována úspěchu této hudební skupiny v kulturně-společenském kontextu daného období, způsobu, jakým představitelé kulturní politiky tento úspěch vnímali, a pohledu členů této hudební skupiny na tyto skutečnosti.The thesis deals with the relation of the cultural politics of Czechoslovakia and the band Greenhorns, which notably contributed to the popularization of country and western, a musical genre of American origin, in this land of the Eastern bloc in the second half of the sixties and the first half of the seventies. The attention is focused on the success of the band in the cultural and social context of the period, on the way the representants of the cultural politics perceived this success, and on the opinion of the band members about these facts.
