Práce se zabývá situací katolické církve a československého státu do roku 1949. Tento způsob soužití udávalo právě smluvní ujednání Modus vivendi. První kapitola se věnuje zvláštnímu postavení Svatého stolce jako subjektu mezinárodního práva a popisuje smluvní právní akty, ke kterým Svatý stolec v rámci této subjektivity přistupuje. Druhá kapitola objasňuje situaci v zemích Koruny české a na Slovensku za vlády Habsbursko-lotrinské dynastie. Komplikovaný vztah hlavních představitelů Československé republiky vůči Svatému stolci popisuje třetí kapitola. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje dohodě Modus vivendi a pátá kapitola pak její postupné realizaci. Poslední šestá kapitola pojednává o situaci katolické církve v područí totalitních režimů (fašismu a komunismu) a dalšímu osudu Modu vivendi v těchto časech.The thesis deals with the situation of the Catholic Church and the Czechoslovak state until 1949. This manner of co-existence was determined by the legal contractual act of Modus Vivendi. The first chapter is dedicated to the special position of the Holy See as a subject of the international law. Furthermore, it describes the legal contractual acts that the Holy See accedes to within the frame of this subjectivity. The second chapter clarifies the situation in the Czech and Slovak territories under the rule of the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty. The complex relationship between the leading representatives of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Holy See is dealt with in the third chapter. The fourth chapter is devoted to the agreement Modus Vivendi and the fifth proceeds to discuss its gradual implementation. The sixth and the last chapter is concerned with the situation of the Catholic Church in thrall of the totalitarian regimes (fascism and communism) and with further dealings with Modus Vivendi in those times.
