Volby do Evropského parlamentu se doposud v České republice konaly pouze dvakrát, a to v letech 2004 a 2009. Ve druhých volbách mandát obhájily pouze čtyři parlamentní strany. Přes velká očekávání žádná z dalších politických stran nezískala jediný mandát. Mnohé analýzy voleb do Evropského parlamentu poukazují na to, že malé politické strany jsou často mnohem úspěšnější v evropských než v národních volbách. Pokud však detailněji zkoumáme výsledky v České republice, předvolební průzkumy a zároveň volební kampaň, která volbám v roce 2009 předcházela, nelze se výsledku příliš divit. Dle mého názoru měly menší strany velké šance získat mandát, avšak jejich nejednota a vyhraněnost lídrů stran vzala za své.Elections to the European Parliament so far in the Czech Republic were held only twice, in 2004 and 2009. In the second election mandate continues to be the only four parliamentary parties. Despite high expectations, none of the other political parties to obtain the mandate. Many of the analysis of the elections to the European Parliament pointed out that small political parties are often much more successful in Europe than in national elections. In my point of view, the smaller parties should have great chance to get a mandate, but their disunity and definitiv of leaders of the parties was the reason of the silure
