Zájmem studie je osoba a dílo německého dogmatika Michaela Schmause, zvláště pak jeho předkoncilní a pokoncilní christologie i soteriologie. Přínosné je v prvé řadě ucelené nastínění života Michaela Schmause a dále zajisté zpracování archivních materiálů nemalého rozsahu - detailně vykreslují z administrativního pohledu životopis vědce v období jeho života, kdy mu byla po čtyři léta útočištěm naše Praha s teologickou fakultou Německé univerzity. Přínosem studie je i vyčerpávající seznam Schmausova díla. Práce se nejvíce zabývá vývojem christologie a soteriologie u Schmause. Jsou to jakési "řezy" v jeho christologii a soteriologii předkoncilní a pokoncilní. Potěšitelné například je, že Schmaus rozlišuje už i v předkoncilní christologii historického Ježíše a Krista víry, a že pracuje s pojmem funkcionální a ontická christologie. Stěžejním christologickým tématem v obou dogmatikách se podle vzoru manuálů jeví problematika jedné osoby a dvou přirozeností u Ježíše Krista, která sice vrcholí, ale nekončí, na Chalcedonském koncilu. Avšak Schmaus rozvíjí i biblický základ, kdy v obou christologiích pojednal o christologických titulech a ve druhé christologii také výrazněji o druhé kapitole listu Filipanům. Nemluví však o víře Ježíše Krista. Schmaus christologii jako takové (včetně soteriologie) přiznal ústřední postavení v celku teologie, dokonce upřednostnil soteriologii před christologií v pokoncilní dogmatice, zřejmě s úmyslem podtrhnout její existenciální význam pro člověka. Celému dílu Kristovu přiznal soteriologický a zjevitelský charakter, kříž spolu se vzkříšením je pro něj vyvrcholením soteriologického díla. Schmaus věděl, že pohlížet jenom na Kristův kříž, jako na plnost spásy, není teologicky správné, je to jistá soteriologická redukce.The interest of study is the person and work of the German dogmatist Michael Schmaus, especially his before-conciliar and after-conciliar christology and soteriology. Mainly the integral presentation of the life of Michael Schmaus is contributive as well as the processing of the archival materials of not a small extent - from the administrative point of view they depict the biography of the scientist in the period of his life, when our Prague with the theological faculty of German university was his refuge for four years. The contribution of study is also a comprehensive list of Schmaus ´s work. The work is mostly concerning on the development of christology and soteriology by Schmaus. There is some kind of "incisions" in his before-conciliar and after-conciliar christology and soteriology. For example, it is very heartwarming that Schmaus distinguishes even in before-conciliar christology historical Jesus and Christ of faith, and that he works with the concept of the functional and ontical christology. According to the pattern of manuals, the problem of one person and two natures in Jesus Christ appears as the fundamental christology topic in both dogmatics, which culminates, but does not end, on Chalcedon council. However, Schmaus also develops the biblical basis when in both christologies he delt with christological titles and in the second christology he emphasizes the second chapter of the Epistle of Paul to the Philippians. But he does not speak about the faith of Jesus Christ. Schmaus assigned the christology itself (including soteriology) the central position in the whole theology. He even preferred soteriology to christology in the after-conciliar dogmatics, evidently with the aim to underline its substantive meaning for a man. He confessed the soteriologic and revealing character to the whole Christ´s work, the cross together with resurrection is to him the culmination of the soteriologic work. Schmaus knew that to look at Christ´s cross only, as at the fullness of salvation, is not theologically right, that it is a certain soteriologic reduction.
