Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou ageismu, neboli diskriminací lidí pro jejich stáří. Popsala jsem život starého člověka na prahu třetího tisíciletí, postoj společnosti ke stáří a demografické stárnutí v České republice. Objasnila jsem proces stárnutí z hlediska biologického, psychického, sociálního a představila Národní program přípravy na stárnutí. Dále se zabývám definicí ageismu, jeho zdroji - mýty, stereotypy, předsudky a dopady ageismu na společnost. Cílem práce je shrnout informace o tomto tématu a srovnat odpovědi seniorů z Olomouckého kraje a seniorů z kanadského Winnipegu, kteří byli v rámci výzkumu osloveniThe Bachelor?s Thesis deals with the issue of ageism or discrimination of people because of their age. It describes a life of an old person on the threshold of the third millennium, the society?s attitude to old age and the demographic ageing in the Czech Republic. The thesis also clarifies the ageing process from the biological, mental and social points of view as well as it presents the National Programme of Preparation for Ageing. Next, it deals with the definition of ageism, its sources - myths, stereotypes, prejudice and the impacts of ageism on society. The aim of the work is to summarize information on the topic and compare the answers provided by senior citizens living in the Olomouc Region with those provided by senior citizens from Winnipeg in Canada, who have also been addressed within the research.
