V současnosti existuje mnoho podob instituce otcovství, hovoří se i o jeho deinstitucionalizaci. Nejčtenější český časopis týkající se rodičovství Maminka jakožto důležitý aktér podílející se na sociální distribuci vědění ohledně otcovské instituce prezentuje v rámci svého diskursu požadavky na tuto instituci. Tyto požadavky do značné míry vycházejí z patriarchálního modelu otcovství, kdy otec zůstává živitelem rodiny a roli primárního rodiče hraje matka. Role otce i matky je svázána klasickými genderovými stereotypy. Zároveň však diskurs zčásti reflektuje trend aktivního či nového otcovství a klade na muže požadavek, aby se zapojili do soukromé rodinné sféry.The institution of fatherhood can take a lot of forms nowadays, even its deinstitutionalization is part of the discourse. Maminka, the best-selling Czech magazine on parenting and thus an important actor taking part in the social distribution of knowledge on fatherhood, presents requirements for this institution. These requirements largely draw on the patriarchal model of fatherhood, where father remains the breadwinner and mother plays the role of the primary parent. The roles of mother and father are tied by classical gender stereotypes. Yet the discourse partly reflects the trend of active or new fatherhood and asks the man to engage in the private sphere of the family at the same time.
