Tématem mé diplomové práce je překlad a analýza povídek Charlene and Trudi Go Shopping a Pleasureland současné britské autorky Kate Atkinsonové. Obě povídky poprvé vyšly v roce 2002 jako součást sbírky Not the End of the World. Cílem mé diplomové práce je pokud možno co nejadekvátnější překlad povídek a následný komentář specifických rysů a překladatelsky zajímavých míst. V první části své práci jsem se zaměřila na autorský styl a charakteristiku tvorby Kate Atkinsonové, dále se věnuji intertextualitě a kulturnímu kontextu, překladu proprií, cizích slov a exotických prvků. Zmíním i překladatelská řešení neologismů, problematických slovních hříček, aliterací a takzvaných věcí nepřeložitelných.The topic of my MA thesis is the translation and analysis of Kate Atkinson?s short stories ?Charlene and Trudi Go Shopping? and ?Pleasureland?. Both stories were for the first time in 2002 as a part of the collection of short stories called ?Not the End of the World?. The aim of my MA thesis was as adequate translation as possible and consequent commentary of specific features and translatologically interesting parts. In the first part of my thesis I focus on Kate Atkinson?s authorial style and general characteristics of her work. The next chapters are devoted to intertextuality and cultural context as such, the translation of proper names, foreign word and exotic features. Part of my thesis is also translation of neologisms analysis, solution to problematic translation of puns, alliteration and so called untranslatable things.
