Anotace: Náplní této diplomové práce je určit problémy týkající se vzdělávání dětí nově příchozích imigrantů do USA a UK v širším kontextu historického původu imigrace na oba kontinenty a teorie vývoje multikulturního vzdělávání, s přihlédnutím k mým poznatkům získaným pozorováním učebních metod na střední škole v USA a na základní škole v UK. První dvě kapitoly přináší teoretické zázemí a historii imigrace a multikulturního vzdělávání. Moje poznatky týkající se multikulturního vzdělávacího prostředí na obou školách jsou náplní třetí kapitoly, spolu s rozhovory s učitelkami ESL v USA a v UK. Ve čtvrté části bude provedeno shrnutí a část pátá přináší bibliografické informace.Annotation: The aim of this thesis is to address the issues of educating the immigrant children in the USA and the UK in the wider context of historical background of the immigration on both continents and the theory of the development of multicultural education with respect to my observations of the teaching methods at the high school in the USA and the primary school in the UK. In the first two chapters I will describe the theoretical background and the history of immigration and multicultural education. My observations of the multicultural learning environment at both schools are included in the third chapter, together with the interviews with the ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers from both, the USA, and the UK. In the fourth part I will give summary and conclusion and the last part brings the bibliography.
